The French have a charming term, “digestibilité” for wines that are easy, perhaps sometimes all too easy, to drink, and that your body welcomes with seeming effortlessness. On this day after our national, secular feast day we tender to you four red wines, none French, but all with a high degree of “digestibilité”, and all perfect for leftovers or just sitting quietly by yourself, or animatedly with friends and family before a crackling fire, an old hound at your feet, and with the smell of roasting chestnuts in the air.
